Agility Training Classes
Terri Coutts & Paulette Emery teach introductory Agility Classes at Emeryville Animal Hospital.
A seven week course evenings for one hour to acquaint dogs and their human handlers with the equipment and handling techniques involved in dog agility.
What is Agility?
You've seen agility on Animal Planet and Outdoor Life Network. Come and enjoy the experience for yourself. The object of agility is for a human handler to guide their dog through an obstacle course of agility equipment. The sport has been growing rapidly in popularity in the past 10 years with agility trials being held almost every weekend. It is a great way to have fun with your dog, as well as get some exercise and fresh air.
What is required of myself and my dog?
If you are interested in agility classes you and your dog must be able to do the following:
  • Basic commands such as: "Come", "Sit", "Down", "Stay". In other words a good grasp of obedience. A strong "Come" command is encouraged.
  • An animal in good health with up-to-date vaccinations (proof required).
  • All dogs must be over one year of age.
  • A positive attitude to have fun with your dog.
What is NOT allowed?
  • Aggressive dogs, harsh training methods, choke chains and pinch collars.
Remember: This is a FUN sport with your dog!
