McDuff is a three year old fun loving Cairn Terrier.  Who one day came into Emeryville Animal Hospital with the complaint of vomiting, lack of appetite, and lethargy.  His owners were unaware of him getting into anything unsual and because two weeks previously he had a similar episode conservative treatment was prescribed.  Blood work was performed to rule out a pancreatic problem, followed by a series of X-rays.  The x-rays (barium) revealed a sluggish gastro-intestinal movement which can be seen with a forgeign body obstruction.  McDuff was hospitalized on intervenous fluids (I.V) and scheduled for an exploratory the next morning.
Surgery revealed a part of a tree branch that McDuff has ingested and had lodged in the small intestine.  The forgein body was removed and McDuff stayed on antibiotics and fluids for an additional day.  He was discharged on antibiotics and is doing much better.
A very deserving McDuff recieved a purple heart and certificate of bavery for all he had endured
