Pet Memorial

Pet obituary is a great way to pay tribute to a cherished family member/friend.  It is important for family to memorialize our companion animals when we lose them.  We need to acknowledge and honour the important role they have played in our family's life.
Writing an obituary can be important in helping with the grieving process and helping our hearts heal.  It allows you to document feelings, memories and how much they will be missed in you family's life.
We would like to include your pet's obituary on our  memorial page of our website for you to share with family and friends.  Feel free to include a picture.   Online Submissions

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting heaven and earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special persons who loved them on Earth.
So, each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you will take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

Is your pet protected against Heartworm Disease and Internal Parasites? Be sure to continue with your pets Parasite prevention.

Dakota "Big Paws" Dawe    (a/k/a Puppy Face and Bud)
F
ebruary 24, 2005 -  August 25, 2011

Dakota was a great and loving family member who brought so much into our lives. He would tell you he lived with two human beings who loved and spoiled him but the truth is he spoiled us. He gave us kisses and used to hug Harold by putting his paws on Harold's shoulders and then kissing his ear. Every morning he would wait for his morning scratch and massage from me. He could tell time too because every night, he would gently remind us that he was due for his bone. He also loved his walks and his car rides. He shared his yard with many outside cats, a few of them he liked to bath with his big tongue and they let him! For five years of his life, he was a weekly visitor to Iler Lodge Long Term Care in Essex and they loved him. We thank everyone, especially Dr. Jeun, for all the love, kindness, affection and care he was shown during his time with us. We thank Dr. DeLuca for his emergency treatment of Dakota and doing everything in his power to help Dakota during his last hours with us. He left our lives too soon but he will never leave our hearts.

Loved and cherished dearly by Sassy and Harold Dawe
Winston Lewis                                                June 5/1989 -  August 30,2011

God summoned a beast from the field and said...
"I endow you with the instincts uncommon to other beast: faithfulness, devotion and understanding surpassing those of man himself.  Lest it impair your understanding, you are denied the power of words ...
Speak to your master only with your mind and only through honest eyes...
So be silent, and be a friend to man... This shall be your destiny and your immortality." So spoke the lord...And the dog heard and was content...
This was Winston and loved so much.

Winston was not just a dog, he was a true friend and will be missed by all.

Kaleigh Lowrie                                                                      May 5/2001 - Sept 3/2011

We're the Lowries and this is a picture of our dog.  You all knew her as Kaleigh, but to us she was BoBo, Kay Bear, Pookie or Baby Girl.  We had Kaleigh in our lives for exactly 10 years, 3 months and 29 days.  Not nearly enough time.  As a puppy she was  happy and so eager to please.  Kaleigh, like many labs we have encountered over the years, was very puppy-like for a long time.  She wore us out at times.  Kay came into our lives as our youngest child was going away for school.  She, especially for me, filled the gap in our lives that our children left when they grew up and moved out to be on their own.  She very much became our "Fur child".  My husband works midnights and has naps every evening before going into work.  So Kaleigh was my constant shadow.  She would follow me everywhere and I in return, talked to her, A Lot.  She even followed me into the bathroom. Yes I said bathroom.  Just like when my kids were young, I was back to not being able to go potty by myself.  But when Kaleigh reached three and a half years old health problems started.  First it was a thyroid condition, then rheumatoid arthritis.  The arthritis really slowed her down but never in spirit.  Next came chronic kidney issues and most recently chronic pancreatitis.  Kaleigh went through more health issues in her ten years than most people do in a life time.  But Kaleigh just kept "Trucken".  She got slow but always loved her car rides to visit her friends at the vets office.  Kaleigh came to the end of her time with us today.  She went peacefully and with people around her that cared a great deal for her.  Bob and I are hurting immensely right now, but know in our hearts that she was only holding on or us, and we owed it to her to let her go.  On behalf of Kaleigh, Bob and I would like to thank each and every one of you who over the years, helped us with loving care and concern.  Keep doing what you do.  So many like us depend on you.

Cynamin Waters                                             2006  -  July 14, 2011

Cynamin was a happy dog who left this world much too soon. Despite the numerous surgeries he had to undergo, he remained brave and optimistic. Cynamin won the purple heart for bravery awarded by Emeryville Animal Hospital, recognizing his positive attitude throughout his multiple surgeries. He had the best bum wag and loved to snuggle and show that he cared for others. He will be greatly missed.

Soleil Smith                                                    April 19, 2002 -- Sept. 11, 2011

It is with deep sorrow we share the news of the passing of our dear sweet Shih Tzu Soleil on September 11, 2011 at nine years of age. Best friend, playmate and loving sister to Mishu and Nala. Beloved pet and loyal companion to Karen and Chuck (Oct. 22, 2009)Smith and Tara and Rob Anthony.
Soleil was a precious gift from God, a joy and a beautiful blessing to all who knew and loved her. Cherished memories of her life are forever engraved on our hearts and minds. As Soleil's name portrays, she was our bright ray of sunshine.
Soleil is unforgettable, irreplaceable and sadly missed.

Abbi Neveu                                        July 20, 2001  - October 24, 2011

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that Dick and Carol announce the passing of their beloved pet "Abbi".  Abbi was very ill.  She had developed diabetes, liver damage and was anemic.  The decision to let her go was probably one of the most heart wrenching one we have ever had to make.  We feel so blessed though that we had the opportunity to enjoy her for ten years.  She rewarded us with joy, happiness, companionship and unconditional love.  We will always be so grateful for those precious moments.  Abbi knew and grew to love her family.  She was always so happy when they visited.  We would like to thank Rick and Stacey for puppy-sitting whenever we left town.  She enjoyed those visits so much that sometimes we felt she would rather stay with you than come home with us and to her extended family, Rick and Mary, thanks so much for always being there for us when we needed somebody to care for her when we had to go somewhere.  We know how much you loved her and will miss her as much as we will.  She was crazy about you guys.  Thank you Rick and Mark for being at mom's side that sad day.  I wouldn't have made it without you.  Thanks also to you Dr. Debbie for your care, concern and compassion on October 24th.  that helped too and was so appreciated.  Thank you to the entire staff of the Emeryville Animal Hospital for the excellent care given to Abbi over the years.  We will always be so grateful to all of you.  We made the decision to have Abbi cremated so she will be with us always.

Faith Gregorchuk                           Adopted from Humane Society - Nov. 5/2011

When I first adopted Faith from it was two and a half months after my Westie had died.  She was totally opposite from my little Westie; a lot bigger! She barked in my ear all the way home from the Humane Society and loved to eat the velvet off the back of my picture frames.  She would always be in the window waiting for me when I got home from work and when I came in the door, she would dance and then run and get her squeaky toy and we would go out in the backyard and toss it around awhile, then come in and get supper.  She was the greatest friend and companion and I was so blessed to have had her in my life.  The seven years I had my angel was not long enough and I miss her terribly!  She had the sweetest face, the most expressive eyes and the most beautiful pink nose and these ears that looked like pigtails.  She was all girl.  Faith was loved by all who met her, she was a social butterfly and loved everybody especially her grandma who took such good care of her after her surgery when I went to work.  I know she is not suffering now and that gives me some comfort and I know she had a great life with me after all she did have four boxes of squeaky toys and teddy bears to play with. I just really miss her and so does her cat family.
She was the greatest !

In my heart always                                                                       Donna Gregorchuk

Soul Lemire                                                                       July 2011 - January 3/ 2012

Our sweet Soul had a very short life. He was purchased for my daughter as a reward for her making some positive life changes. She suffers from anxiety and I couldn't get her interested in anything for a few years. She wanted a mouse but since we already had a few pets, I said no way! But we made a deal. She had to get involved in some sort of activities. So she did. We were talked into a pet rat at the pet store. I've always been afraid of them. Was I surprised! I've quickly come to learn that rats make one of the most amazing pets! My daughter and I bonded over our time spent with Soul. He gave us so many rat kisses and hugs. He was the source of much laughter and enjoyment. Sadly, shortly after bringing him home, he got sick and though we thought he was responding well to his medicine at first, he just couldn't remain well. We tried all we could to keep him comfortable. We even played therapeutic music for him, particularly a song called A Beautiful Soul.. by: Marc Enfroy. (
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI_ZCh45vPI>) We had to make a very hard decision to let him go and end his suffering. Many people think rats are just disgusting rodents and that there are just too many of them anyway, but our sweet Soul truly had a sweet soul. He'll remain in our thoughts and hearts forever. R.I.P. baby.
Smokey was many things to many people. She was the face of Emeryville Animal Hospital for well over a decade - greeting HER staff and clients as we all entered the front doors.  With her butt towards the sky, she eagerly awaited a good pet, and was always quick to turn around to receive a treat.  Smokey was an opportunist, she could always find the warmest 'spot of the moment': lying out in the sunny waiting room; snuggling under fresh 'out of the dryer' towels and blankets; hiding under her fish mat; or curling up on Dr. Grant's seat whenever it wasn't occupied.  We always had to move the plants out of Smokey's reach, she considered herself a Master of the Botanical Arts, because she would chew back the leaves (to keep them under control).  The plants are flowering now; we think they miss her attention…

It was an unfortunate day, when Dr. Grant decided to calibrate her Ultrasound equipment with Smokey as her patient.  This was the day we discovered our Smokey had a tumor.  One of our skilled surgeons performed an exploratory surgery, and took a biopsy of the tumor.  Smokey has been treated with chemotherapy drugs for the last 2 years, which she was doing well on.

After her drug treatment began, Smokey had to be moved out of the patient populated area, and into the back of the clinic.  There, she shared the space with Morris, another feline companion of ours.  Even though she was restricted to the back of the clinic, she would still manage to sneak up every once and a while, but we could always find her, curled up on Dr. Grant's seat (we started looking there first).

We miss our Smokey dearly; our memories will stand the test of time.  Smokey has found the warmest spot yet, under a blanket of clouds at Rainbow Bridge.
